Florida football snapped a three-game losing steak with an inspired effort in all phases, beating No. 7 Texas 29-21 before 90,714 fans at The Swamp.
Coming off an open week, the Florida Gators (2-3, 1-1 SEC) played with urgency to pick up their first-ever win over the Longhorns, improving to 1-3-1 in the series as Texas made its first trip to The Swamp since shutting out UF 26-0 on Dec. 7, 1940.
With the upset win, Florida football coach Billy Napier may have bought himself more time in his fourth season. Napier improved to 21-22 overall, 16-7 at The Swamp and 5-16 against ranked opponents. Florida had scored just three touchdowns in its last three games, raising more questions about Napier as both a coach and a play caller.
