PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nebraska Athletics) - The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team swept Rutgers 25-17, 25-15, 25-16 on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd of 8,000 at Jersey Mike’s Arena, the largest crowd to ever watch a volleyball match in the state of New Jersey.
The Huskers (14-0, 4-0 Big Ten) posted their fifth sweep in a row. NU hit .390, its fifth straight match hitting .360 or better. The Big Red held Rutgers to .061, the fourth straight match holding an opponent under .110.
It was another balanced attack for the Big Red. Harper Murray had 11 kills, while Skyler Pierce and Andi Jackson added six, and Manaia Ogbechie had five.
Defensively, Nebraska totaled 14 blocks, led by Ogbechie’s career-high eight. Jackson, Murray and Virginia Adriano each had three.
