Cal State Northridge’s Amaris Smith was the only player on either side of the net to finish in double figures in kills with 12 to lead the Matadors to a surprisingly easy 25-21, 25-21, 25-12 over Hawaii today at Premier America Credit Union Arena in Northridge, Calif.

The Matadors (9-6, 2-2 Big West) snapped an 18-match losing streak to Hawaii (6-9, 2-2) dating back to 2014.

CUSN outblocked the Rainbow Wahine 13-2 and hit .333 while UH hit .126.

Hawaii committed 21 attack errors, eight service errors and was whistled for five net violations.

The Matadors outdug Hawaii 40-30.

Tyla Reese Mane and Miliana Sylvester had eight kills apiece to lead UH. Freshman outside hitter Cha’lei Reid started and returned after a one-game absence and had six kills and nine errors.
