LAKE ARIEL, Pa. — Multiple fire crews battled flames that sparked at a pyrotechnics business in Wayne County .

Firefighters were called to the Pyroland building along Tannery Road in Lake Ariel.

The fire chief with the Lake Ariel Volunteer Fire Company told Newswatch 16 that when crews arrived, they heard fireworks, so firefighters had to proceed with caution.

Officials say the fire caused severe damage to the roof of the building. No one was hurt as no one was inside when the fire broke out.

Christopher DiPierro, the Lake Ariel Fire Chief, explained some of the difficulties of this fire. "We just took extra precaution...we had to protect the exposures to the woods and stuff. We had a small brush fire we had to attend to."

A state police fire marshal is investigating the fire.
