RAINBOW CITY, Ala. —

A Florence man is in custody in St. Clair County, after a police chase spanned multiple cities and injured an officer in Rainbow City in Etowah County.

According to the Rainbow City Police Department, the chase began in their jurisdiction around 4:10 p.m. Saturday, when the driver entered city limits on Highway 411 from St. Clair County in a stolen vehicle. They believe the driver was reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Officers say the chase then entered Gadsden, ultimately ending in Attalla on Cleveland Avenue, near the Interstate 59 interchange.

During the chase, an officer with Rainbow City sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
