HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Two fallen Hattiesburg police officers were honored during an event in Hattiesburg, which raised money for scholarships in their memory.

The Deen & Tate End of Watch Ride honored officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate.

They were killed in the line of duty on May 9, 2015.

The 58-mile ride, which featured both motorcycles and jeeps, also raised money for the Hattiesburg Police Department Benefit Fund and the Benjamin J. Deen & Liquori Tate Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is administered through the Pine Belt Foundation.

“(Liquori’s) memory and legacy is shown by the support of the people here,” said Youlander Johnson, the mother of Officer Liquori Tate.

“It makes it a little bit easier, but it won’t ever take it away.”
