ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – In New Mexico, 8% of children live with their grandparents, and on Saturday, hundreds of residents celebrated everything their abuelos do for them. The free event offered unique family-friendly story opportunities to capture the bond between grandparents and grandchildren.
Healthcare providers were also on site to tell families expert tips and tricks on how to live a longer, healthier life. "These days, parents work so they need extra help, so a lot of the times, they rely on their grandparents to raise their grandchildren, to do their errands. We're here to help provide resources to them," said Jonathan Trujillo, community development manager at United Healthcare.
The first 50 families received a complimentary food box.
