HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) — A West Frankfort man was arrested after he is accused of ramming a police cruiser and injuring a deputy during a pursuit in Williamson County on Saturday.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found a stolen vehicle at 4:43 p.m. on October 4, in a parking lot near 16th and Monroe Streets in Herrin. The vehicle was reported stolen from West Frankfort in the late hours on October 3.

After boxing in the vehicle with four patrol units, the sheriff’s office said the driver and suspect, identified as Kyle Kalaher of West Frankfort, reversed the vehicle and hit a patrol car multiple times and then fled the scene. The deputy in the patrol cruiser was also reported with injuries.
