TOLEDO, Ohio — Planned Parenthood officials say more Ohioans are losing access to essential health care as several of the organization’s clinics face possible closure and increased funding pressure under new Medicaid reimbursement rules.
Planned Parenthood says the reason for the new Medicaid reimbursement rules is due to new Trump Administration rules that took effect in September affecting abortion providers.
The potential closures threaten access to basic services such as cancer screenings, birth control, and reproductive care — particularly for low-income patients who rely on Medicaid.
“We will continue to provide as long as we can possibly provide,” said Erica Wilson-Domer, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio. “We may have to sort of regionalize and condense a l
