Weather Update: The Chennai-based Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) on Sunday issued a heavy rainfall warning for 12 districts of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tirupattur, Namakkal, Tiruchirapalli, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar and Sivaganga districts.

According to the latest bulletin, widespread rainfall was recorded across most parts of the state on Saturday. Hosur in Krishnagiri district recorded the highest rainfall of 12 cm, followed by Dindigul at 11 cm, and Avalurpet and Semmedu in Villupuram district at 10 cm each.

Meteorologists believe that this rain is occurring due to the low pressure area formed in the southern peninsular region and areas around Tamil Nadu.
