Patrick Agyemang was thrilled to open his Derby County account and paid tribute to the club's staff for setting him up for success after injury.

The American pounced before half-time when he met Andi Weimann's cross which cancelled out Adam Armstrong's opener.

Agyemang now has a goal and two assists in his first five games having missed the start of the campaign as he recovered from a double hernia.

But the USA international has quickly shown that his £5.9m fee could be a snip and he could have scored another against the Saints when he smashed into the side netting.

Having now broken his duck, Agyemang was happy to be off the mark as he heads into the international break having been called up for the latest US squad by Mauricio Pochettino.
