A female leopard was captured alive by a joint team of the Wildlife Department and J&K Police in Ashpora Qaziabad area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday morning.

According to locals, the leopard was spotted roaming in the village, prompting residents to immediately alert the wildlife authorities. Acting swiftly, a rescue team reached the spot and safely captured the animal without any harm to people or the leopard.

Block Officer Wildlife Kupwara, Farooq Ahmad Peer, said the operation was carried out smoothly, ensuring the safety of both the animal and the public. “The leopard had no injuries and will be shifted to another location where it will receive proper care,” he said.
