Police have initiated an investigation following a suspected arson attack at a Mosque late last night.

Emergency services were summoned to the building on Phyllis Avenue in Peacehaven around 9.50pm on Saturday, October 4, after reports of a fire, which Sussex Police are now treating as a hate crime.

There have been no reported injuries, confirmed Sussex Police, and a spokesperson for the Mosque shared a brief statement on Instagram.

It read: "Unfortunately two individuals have set fire to a car right in front of the Mosque.

"The police/fire brigade are at the scene currently.

"Peacehaven Mosque will be closed until further notice."
