100 Years Ago, 1925: Alexander J. Miller, of Eddystone, known to thousands of boxing fans throughout the state, was fatally injured when he fell between cars on a moving freight train in the Thurlow yard of the Pennsylvania Railroad, at 3 o’clock this morning. He died in the accident room of the Chester Hospital 20 minutes after the accident and just as Father J.A. Fitpartrick, of the Immaculate Heart Church, finished administering the last rites of the church. During the war, Miller was well-known in pugilistic circles as “K.O.” Miller and at one time was considered one of the leading welterweights in this section.
