ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Despite a severe drought continuing in parts of Monroe County, many Rochester residents are taking full advantage of the unseasonably warm October weather.

While this time of year typically marks the start of winter preparations, outdoor recreation spots are seeing an unexpected boost in visitors and profits.

At Parkside Whispering Pines, America’s oldest golf course, established in 1930, staff say this has been one of their best fall seasons in years.

“It’s been unbelievable. We’ve been really, really busy,” said employee Debra Giuffrida. “It’s nice to see people come out and golf, especially in October when it’s supposed to get really cold.”
