We know who to blame for the government shutdown. Republicans have a majority in the U.S. House and Senate. They have the presidency. They even have the Supreme Court. So obviously it is the fault of… transgender people.

And how do we know that? Because Donald Trump said so, that’s how.

“They want to have transgender for everybody,” Trump said to a gaggle of reporters on Sept. 26. “These people are crazy, the Democrats. So if it has to shut down, it’ll have to shut down. But they’re the ones that are shutting down the government.”

You heard it: Transgender for everybody. That’s what the Democrats want.

Ideally, “transgender for everybody” means that anyone who needs it can get gender-affirming care.
