CANTON -- Homecoming was a success for Sequoyah as it shut out Lassiter 32-0 on Friday at Skip Pope Stadium.
The Chiefs (6-1, 3-1 Region 6AAAAA) forced nine punts and allowed just 103 total yards to the Trojans (4-3, 1-3), while amassing 363 total yards on offense, including a 22-point second half that included three plays of 55 yards or more.
“I thought our defense was stout,” Sequoyah coach James Teter said. “We came up with a great plan and I thought the kids were really prepared, so I thought they were outstanding. I wish we had contributed more on offense early on, but we got it rolling in the second half.”
The Chiefs began the scoring midway into the first quarter with a 46-yard field goal from Leif Hansen to go ahead 3-0.
