OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Qasim Shabazz, Terence “Bud” Crawford’s head of security and the passenger who was with him during last week’s traffic stop by Omaha Police reacted to Friday’s press conference.
Shabazz told First Alert 6 he’d like to see more accountability.
“You don’t pull guns on people during the traffic stop where firearms are announced,” Shabazz said.
He, along with Crawford and two other passengers, were held at gunpoint by police when officers learned a gun was in the car Crawford was driving.
During the press conference , police chief Todd Schmaderer said that while officers followed protocol during the stop, there was room for improvement.
He cited LB 77 , a bill passed into law a few years ago, as a challenge for law enforcement in scenarios like this.
