Vitor Pereira inadvertently kicked the ball away out of 'frustration' at an official before being sent off against Brighton.

The assistant to the Wolves boss confirmed the reason for Pereira's red after some mystery surrounding his dismissal during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Molineux.

Pereira was shown a red card by referee Jarred Gillett just 21 minutes into the match.

An explanation from the PGMOL moments after the incident read: "The referee issued a red card to Vítor Pereira for irresponsible behaviour in the technical area."

It's since emerged that Pereira had kicked the ball away from his technical area and into the officials' dugout.

The ball is understood to have hit the match manager, prompting Gillett to send Pereira to the stands.
