Crews on Monday will be conducting aquatic plant control in portions of Lake Okeechobee for an invasive grass, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission said.
According to the FWC, they will treat the area for Luziola subintegra, which is a neotropical water grass that lives in dense monocultures and does damage to a lake's native plant communities.
FWC said that neotropical water grass requires immediate treatment to prevent expansion in the lake, which could cause infestations in other bodies of water.
The aerial treatment will take place along the marsh edge within the Fisheating Bay area.
Due to the plant control effort, boat traffic could be affected.
