WASHINGTON — A man was arrested reportedly with a Molotov cocktail outside a D.C. cathedral Sunday morning, hours before the Archbishop of Washington presided over a high-profile mass.
The Metropolitan Police Department said Louis Geri, 41, had set up a tent on the steps of the Cathedral of St. Matthew's The Apostle on Rhode Island Avenue Northwest and refused to leave.
While arresting Geri, MPD officers discovered what they called "suspicious items," including a vials of liquid and "possible fireworks." After MPD's Explosive Ordinance Disposal team and the Arson Task Force searched the man's tent, he was booked on three preliminary criminal charges: unlawful entry, threats to kidnap or injure a person and possession of a Molotov cocktail.
