LAS VEGAS — For the third time this postseason, the Phoenix Mercury dropped Game 1.
The Mercury will try to even the WNBA Finals against the Las Vegas Aces with Game 2 on Oct. 5. Otherwise, they will return to Phoenix on Oct. 8, down 0-2 in the best-of-seven series. The Aces are 8-0 at home when playing Game 2.
Mercury guard Sami Whitcomb exited the end of the third quarter of Game 1 with a knee injury, but returned to start the fourth quarter. Whitcomb participated in practice the next day and had a compression sleeve on her right leg.
Alyssa Thomas was shaking out her left hand at the end of Game 1, but also participated in practice and declined to share more details on her hand.
