LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Former Louisville Metro Police officer Brett Hankison has been ordered by a federal court to report to the Bureau of Prisons on Thursday, Oct. 9 to begin serving his sentence.
Hankison's attorneys have filed a motion requesting 60 to 90 days of additional time before he must report.
They are seeking the extension as Hankison appeals his conviction to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In July, Hankison was sentenced to 33 months in prison after being convicted of violating Breonna Taylor's civil rights during the 2020 police raid that resulted in her death.
As of now, the judge has not yet ruled on the request.
