LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The YMCA of Central Kentucky is selling its High Street location. It’s been open in downtown Lexington for more than 60 years.

After years of analysis and deliberation, the Central Kentucky YMCA has decided to sell its historic High Street location to make way for student housing, marking the end of an era for the downtown facility.

Paula Anderson, president and CEO of Central Kentucky YMCA, said the decision was not made hastily.

“I want people to know we didn’t come to it lightly, we didn’t come to it suddenly,” Anderson said.

“Really what is pushing the decision is we have to figure out how to make our presence downtown viable and financially viable,” Anderson said.
