Roslindale residents brought out their boisterous neighborhood pride for a sunny, warm parade Sunday afternoon.
“We get a little lost on the edge of the city, but Roslindale’s a beautiful, unique neighborhood,” said resident Alice Walter, celebrating with a group on South Street as a round of bagpipers neared. “It has so much more to offer than people know, and the community’s great. … I’m glad to be here.”
The 49th annual Thomas M. Donahue Roslindale Day Parade, named after the former president of the parade committee and champion of the neighborhood, kicked off in 1975, occurring on the first or second Sunday of every October.
The march of revelers started off at 1 p.m. winding from South Street around the neighborhood to finish at Robert Street.
Sunday’s celebration included a wide
