SAN BRUNO, Calif. – A driverless Waymo taxi made headlines after being stopped by police for an illegal U-turn.

Police pulled over the self-driving car early Saturday but found themselves unable to issue a ticket since there was no driver present.

Authorities contacted Waymo about the incident, described as a “glitch,” and expressed hope for improvements in the future.

A new state law set to take effect next year may allow such violations to be reported to the DMV.

Waymo has stated their commitment to road safety and is currently investigating the incident.
