Two people were rescued by firefighters on Saturday evening after their vehicle plunged into a creek in northwest Indiana, authorities said.
At approximately 5:33 p.m., the Michigan City Fire Department was called to the 100 block of Franklin Street for a report of a vehicle that had driven into the water, fire officials said in a Facebook post. Firefighters arrived on the scene and met with a witness on a personal watercraft, who directed them to the vehicle.
Two fire department divers, and a third diver from the Michigan City Police Department, jumped into the water, located the vehicle and broke its windows to get inside, authorities said.
