SEATTLE -- Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty will start Game 3 of the American League Division Series when it returns to Detroit on Tuesday afternoon.

If there’s a Game 4 on Wednesday, right-hander Casey Mize will get the ball for the Tigers.

Manager A.J. Hinch made the announcement Sunday.

The two pitchers are switching order from the Wild Card Series in Cleveland, where Mize started Game 2 and Flaherty followed in the decisive Game 3. Flaherty will be pitching on normal four days’ rest, while Mize will get a couple of extra days.

“Every series is a little different,” Hinch said. “Both are working off relatively controllable pitch counts, so that wasn’t really a factor.
