MONTGOMERY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - The mayor and police chief of Montgomery released the names of two victims killed in a Saturday night mass shooting and provided more details about the investigation as part of an hour-long, Sunday afternoon news conference.
Montgomery Police Chief Jim Graboys confirmed Jeremiah Morris, 17, and Shalanda Williams, 43, both believed to be from Montgomery, were killed when guns were fired into a large crowd of people. It happened around 11:30 p.m. near downtown’s Bibb Street and Commerce Street.
Twelve other people were also shot. As of noon, the chief said the number of victims with life-threatening injuries is up from three to five. Seven others are being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
