Roaring engines and the smell of gasoline filled the air as dirt bike riders tackled the steep 330-foot hill at this year’s Victoria Motorcycle Club (VMC) Hill Climb.
Hosted in Metchosin, the annual event was held on Oct. 5, drawing motorcyclists, sports enthusiasts, and attendees from across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.
About 30 riders, some as young as 10, took part in the timed challenge, racing up the steep hill in one of six classes ranging from 100cc to 1200cc.
“There’s no prize money or anything like that,” said Brent Donaldson, event organizer and VMC director. “It’s strictly just to come and have fun and be part of the community.”
