A fast-spreading fire damaged eight acres of a soybean field at a McHenry County farm, authorities said Sunday.

The Harvard Fire Protection District responded at around 12:39 p.m. to a farm near Boone-McHenry County Line Road and Yates Road for a reported brush fire. While heading to the scene, firefighters were information the fire was spreading quickly across the field.

Responding crews located the fire on the east side of the roadway in the 13500 block of County Line Road, where "moderate fire conditions" were moving rapidly across a harvested soybean field, authorities said.
