Connor McGovern is not usually the center of attention. But he was on Sunday Night Football .

The Buffalo Bills center left briefly in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots after suffering a right-hand injury.

McGovern was hurt on a third-and-3 play with 9 minutes, 55 seconds remaining in the second quarter. He was flagged for being an ineligible receiver downfield, but the penalty was declined after wide receiver Khalil Shakir lost 3 yards on the play.

NBC cameras showed trainers pressing on McGovern’s bleeding middle knuckle on his right hand. Sideline reporter Melissa Stark later said McGovern was taken to the locker room for further evaluation. He was initially listed as questionable to return.
