NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- After five years of stewardship, members of Gather New Haven are celebrating a milestone of its work connecting neighbors to nature.

The non-profit originally started from small beginnings, as both the New Haven Land Trust and New Haven Farms, until it joined forces in 2020 to become the like-minded group it is today.

Starting out helping to tend to the group's farms, Executive Director Jonathón Savage says watching Gather New Haven's mission grow over the years has been rewarding.

"I grew my own food from the age of five in the city so I'm very connected to the idea of growing your food and local food in New Haven," Savage said.
