Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, currently on a Bihar tour, has announced a plan to field independent “Gau Bhakt” (cow devotee) candidates for all 243 assembly seats in the state. He said the aim is to organise Sanatani voters and make cow protection a central issue in the elections.
Speaking to Bhaskar , the Shankaracharya clarified that while Muslims are citizens, they are not the target voters. “We don’t seek votes from this community. If enough Sanatani voters come forward, they can establish their own rule,” he said.
