Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is calling for the political temperature to be "turned down" after a Queensland man was charged for allegedly threatening to kill him.
Norman Dean Lake was arrested at a property north of Brisbane on Saturday, after allegedly using social media to make a threat on Anthony Albanese's life.
He has been charged with one count of using a carriage service to make a threat to kill.
The offence carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
Mr Albanese declined to go into the specifics of the case with the matter before the court.
"I have consistently said we need to, wherever possible, turn down the temperature of debate, and to agree and disagree respectfully,"
he said.
