IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Julian Manson is the top-rated recruit in the state of Iowa according to 247 Sports.

He’s committed to Iowa as a senior at Iowa City West. Jason Manson, his father, was a Hawkeyes receiver and quarterback. Getting to this point wasn’t a direct path for Julian Manson.

“Football was the last thing I tried to force on any of my three boys,” said Jason.

While growing up in Connecticut, Iowa wasn’t initially an option.

“I never grasped the idea of me going to Iowa really until I got here in Iowa City and they started recruiting me,” said Julian.

When moving back to Iowa, the Hawkeyes were on the table. Iowa made sure to not just recruit him based of his father.
