Pop superstar Taylor Swift's new film has debuted at the top of the US box office after earning $US33 million ($A50 million).

Swift's devoted fanbase once again proved unstoppable with her film, The Official Release Party of a Show Girl, at number one ahead of Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, according Comscore.

The AMC Theatres release served as a companion piece to Swift's 12th studio album, packaging music videos, behind-the-scenes footage and profanity-free lyric visuals into an 89-minute experience.

The film played at all 540 AMC cinemas in the US for three days, ending after Sunday, and was shown in Mexico, Canada, the UK and across Europe.
