WHILE they may not be greeted at the gates by robots when returning for Term 4, public school students will have access to a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool in the classroom.

After a successful trial in 50 schools around the state, NSWEduChat will officially be available to staff and students in Grades 5 to 12 at all NSW public schools.

And while AI can often be met with scepticism, Meadow Flat Public School principal Michael Wood said he is excited about the rollout and will encourage everyone to embrace it.

"I've been using it, I was an early adopter, and we've seen how it's benefited teachers, and now it will help children," he said.

"It's not going to see teachers made redundant, it's a tool teachers can use.
