A boat belonging to the Malawi Maritime Forces was reportedly stolen by unknown individuals in the early hours of Saturday in Monkey Bay.

According to sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, soldiers launched a search operation in the surrounding areas of Zambo and Mvunguti after discovering that the boat was missing. The boat was later found abandoned, but its engine and fuel tank were allegedly missing at the time.

However, Spokesperson for the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), Lieutenant Colonel Frank Kayanula, confirmed the incident but clarified that the boat and all its accessories were recovered.

Kayanula added that the suspects, identified as civilians, have since been arrested and handed over to the Malawi Police Service for further investigation.
