SRINAGAR : The popular hill station of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district received its first snowfall of the season on Monday, marking the beginning of winter in the higher reaches of the Valley. The fresh spell covered meadows, pine forests, rooftops, and slopes with a thin layer of snow, lending the resort a serene appearance. Officials from the Meteorological Department said the snowfall was seasonal in nature and resulted from a western disturbance passing over north Kashmir.
