Police in Rumphi are keeping in custody a security guard from Rumphi FM Radio, Victor Kumwenda, 34, in connection with the alleged theft of radio equipment valued at over K23 million.

According to Rumphi Police Station spokesperson, Sub-Inspector Noel Kamchenga, Kumwenda was arrested in Ntsiriza, Lilongwe, where he was allegedly attempting to sell the stolen equipment. He has since been transferred back to Rumphi to face charges.

Police have so far recovered several items, including a Yamaha mixer, a subwoofer set, and a Hybrid mini mixer.

Kumwenda comes from Kaphilitiwa Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mthwalo in Mzimba.
