The banks are set to remain shut for almost 21 days in the month of October in wake of festive season. In the second week of October, the banks across states will remain closed on multiple days between Oct 6-11. The banks will remain closed on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja, Karva Chauth, Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti, etc in different regions.

According to RBI Holiday calendar, bank holidays are marked under Negotiable Instruments Act, ie these holidays can vary from region to region.

October 6 — Lakshmi Puja

Banks will remain closed on October 6 in Agartala and Kolkata for Lakshmi Puja, also known as Kojagara Puja or Kojagari Purnima. The festival, celebrated on a full moon night is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. However, banks in other parts of the country will function as usual.
