Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Travis Hunter (12) warms up before the game against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium.

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter starred on both sides of the ball in high school and in college. Through four games at the NFL level, his two-way efforts have been a bit of a mixed bag.

Hunter, the Jaguars' No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has played more than 100 snaps at both wide receiver and cornerback so far this season. He's graded out better as a cornerback than as a receiver through four weeks, per Pro Football Focus.

Jacksonville originally planned to have the reigning Heisman Trophy winner be more of a contributor on offense as a wide receiver, but injuries to other Jaguars cornerbacks forced Hunter into a bigger role on defense in Weeks 2 and 3.

Week 4's game was a return to mostly playing on the offensive side, and he set a season- and career-high mark with 42 receiving yards against the San Francisco 49ers.

In Week 5, Hunter and the Jaguars will host the Kansas City Chiefs in a "Monday Night Football" clash. Fans will have to wait for Monday to see how much the Jaguars utilize Hunter on each side of the ball against the reigning AFC champs.

Here's what to know about Hunter's season so far:

Hunter has played more snaps on offense than on defense so far this year. Through four weeks, here's his snap count share has balanced out at his two positions according to PFF:

  • Wide receiver (offense): 159 snaps, 108 pass play snaps
  • Cornerback (defense): 101 snaps, 74 coverage snaps

Notably, Hunter played more snaps on defense than offense in both Weeks 2 and 3. He had 43 cornerback snaps to 42 wide receiver snaps in Week 2, then 43 cornerback to 37 wide receiver snaps in Week 3.

Travis Hunter PFF grades

Pro Football Focus has graded Hunter's 260 snaps on both sides of the ball. So far, Hunter's grades show that he's performed better on the defensive side of the ball – albeit in a smaller sample size.

  • Cornerback: 69.6 overall defense grade | 76.4 run defense grade | 63.9 tackling grade | 67.5 coverage grade
