AUSTIN, Texas — Police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead Monday morning in North Austin.
In a media briefing, the Austin Police Department (APD) said officers arrived at around 7:40 a.m. Monday to the 8200 block of the Research Boulevard service road heading northbound after receiving a call about a possible shooting/stabbing.
Once on scene, police said they located a woman in her 30s or 40s suffering from injuries behind an auto repair shop. Her identity is unknown at this time, and it's unclear exactly when she died.
One person also said they heard a popping noise either Sunday night or sometime early Monday.
Law enforcement said no suspects are in custody at this time, but an investigation is underway in what is now Austin's 46th homicide this year.
