Have you been dreaming about writing a novel, wondering how to cultivate your craft, or been trying to get published?

Now’s your chance to learn from a pro. The city of Peoria has launched a writer in residence program at Sunrise Mountain Library, 21109 N. 98th Ave.

This free, six-month experience gives residents the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a published author, attend workshops, and gain insider tips on the craft of writing and the path to publication.

The initial program will run every Tuesday and Friday through the end of the year, with 40 minute one-on-one consultations available between 1:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays.

The inaugural residency will feature author Joseph Nassise. Programming will transition to author Emily Devenport in early 2026.
