Two separate shootings on the campus of South Carolina State University on Saturday night left a woman dead and a man wounded, and prompted school officials to cancel a homecoming weekend concert and temporarily put students on lockdown, authorities said.
Police at the school in Orangeburg said one of the shootings unfolded at a student housing complex.
Few details about both shootings have been released, and police have not announced whether any suspects have been arrested.
The identity of the woman who was shot to death on campus is being withheld by police pending an autopsy and notification of her relatives, authorities said.
The man who was injured in the second shooting on the campus was being treated at a hospital on Sunday afternoon. His name and condition were not immediately
