OSCODA COUNTY — The Tri-Town Fire Department in Mio says it’s teaming up with the State of Michigan Fire Marshals Office to offer smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to any home in Oscoda County.

The fire department says the only requirement is that a fire official or firefighter has to do the installation and they must install as many as are needed inside the home.

That means detectors must be in all bedrooms, living spaces, and hallways.

Experts say smoke alarms are usually good for about a decade and should be replaced after that.

You can request detectors by calling the Tri-Town Fire Department at 989-826-6026.
