ORANGEBURG — Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle released the name of the woman killed during one of two campus shootings at S.C. State University the evening of Oct. 4.
Jaliyah Butler, 19, of Saluda, was pronounced dead at MUSC Health Orangeburg, a statement from the coroner’s office said.
“My heart goes out to all the victims of this unfortunate event and to their families, the South Carolina State University family and the Orangeburg County community,” Fogle said. “ Continue to pray for these individuals and our county that we may heal and recover from this tragic event.”
An unidentified man also was hospitalized after the two shootings, which authorities believe are unrelated, they said Oct. 5. None of the victims were students at S.C. State.
