President Donald Trump is talking about sending stimulus checks to Americans that would be funded by revenue from his tariffs.

In an interview with One America News last week, Trump said he is considering sending checks worth $1,000 to $2,000, according to Axios .

“We’re going to do something, we’re looking at something. No. 1, we’re paying down debt. Because people have allowed the debt to go crazy,” Trump said, according to Axios. “We’ll pay back debt, but we also might make a distribution to the people, almost like a dividend to the people of America.”

Trump has mentioned the idea of rebate checks based on tariff revenue before, including in July.
