DECORAH, Iowa —
Crown Prince Haakon of Norway will visit Iowa on Monday, Oct. 6, as part of a tour celebrating 200 years of organized immigration from Norway to the United States.
Prince Haakon, who is second in line to the Norwegian throne, will make three stops in the country, including Decorah, which has significant Norwegian history and ties.
The public is invited to free events celebrating the visit.
At 10 a.m., a street festival on and around the Vesterheim campus will feature traditional Norwegian dance and music performances.
At 11:15 a.m., a ceremony and ribbon cutting for The Royal Family Samlingshall in Hanson Vesterheim Commons, a large gathering room being dedicated to the Norwegian Royal Family, will take place. The ceremony will include remarks from His Royal Highness.
